The instructor

Russ Motyko

Certified Master Inspector. Owner of Trusted Home Inspections in the Portland and Vancouver area. He has taught the classroom portion of Washington's pre-licensing program and has walked more than a hundred new inspectors up to this exam.

Teaching a pre-licensing class puts you in an odd position. You spend weeks covering what a good inspector needs to know, you watch people get genuinely good at it, and then a chunk of them go sit a 200-question exam and do not pass. Not because they cannot inspect a house. Because nobody had taught them the exam.

The exam is a separate skill. It has a published outline, a fixed number of questions per topic, a manual it is referenced to, and a question style that does not look like the quizzes at the end of a school chapter. Students who understood that walked in calm. Students who did not walked in and got surprised at question 40.

This course exists to close that specific gap. It is not a better school. It is the thing that goes between school and the test center.
