The 2017 bill

Senate Bill 17-038 would have made home inspectors register with the state licensing agency. It asked for no exam. The Senate Finance Committee voted it down 3 to 2 on February 9, 2017. A search of the legislature's site finds no home inspector bill since.

Where the NHIE still fits

The NHIE is open to anyone. ASHI, the American Society of Home Inspectors, asks members in a state with no license to pass it before they move up to its Inspector level, along with 50 paid inspections. Its ASHI Certified Inspector title asks for the NHIE and 250 paid inspections.
